產品介紹This gene encodes a neuropeptide that is widely expressed in the central nervous system and influences many physiological processes, including cortical excitability, stress response, food intake, circadian rhythms, and cardiovascular function. The neuropeptide functions through G protein-coupled receptors to inhibit adenylyl cyclase, activate mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), regulate intracellular calcium levels, and activate potassium channels. A polymorphism in this gene resulting in a change of leucine 7 to proline in the signal peptide is associated with elevated cholesterol levels, higher alcohol consumption, and may be a risk factor for various metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. The protein also exhibits antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]

由于結構中富含酪氨酸 ,故稱為神經肽酪氨酸 (NPY)。它的結構與同是 36個氨基酸的胰多肽 (pp)和肽 YY(PYY)極其相似 ,故認為同屬胰多肽家族。從分子結構看 ,人、大鼠、豚鼠和兔序列安全一致 ,而牛、羊、豬 NPY序列與人的序列只相差一個氨基酸。
